Article: best hosting by John Jones
Choosing your first or new web host can be a complicated and daunting process with so many different features and hosting options, countless price plans and freebies on offer it is vital to take time to look hard and long at what you need and what's available.
Firstly it is important to recognise your own web hosting needs not only now but in the future you should ask yourself what if in five years time when my business has expanded will the web host still be around? Are they big enough and experienced enough to keep up with my present needs and future expectations?
A company with this kind of web hosting service is a company with experience and a length of time in service, Hosts like this that are worth considering need to have been in business for at least five years.
Avoid cheap hosts offering a very cheap monthly or yearly option because they can be problematic, often having cut corners on the services they offer or the type of servers where your website is to be installed. This kind of host can mean you suffer in the long run with poor service and support, to sign up with a cheap host is a false economy and is ill advised.
If they are cheap they are relying on income from a large number of clients and when (not if) they find their client count is down they will go bust leaving all their paid up customers without website, data or domain.
At the time of writing this article a reasonable amount of money to pay for a months hosting is between five and ten dollars. Ten dollars being the top end of the market, but less than five dollars is a risky hosting option nothing to say of the fewer features offered with bad and/or slow support.
Good quick solid technical support is absolutely necessary to ensure the smooth set-up of your new website including direct involvement with your problem and a swift answer to any installation wrinkles encountered
Changing your hosts in mid stream of your businesses plan or online career is not a desirable option unless it is forced upon you and needs to be avoided if possible because the time involved in relocating your domain/s from one host to another uploading backup data assuming you have the latest working copy with data bases, user names and passwords to set up and of course the email boxes…… Help!
So getting it right the first time by signing up with an experienced long standing host, paying a reasonable fee for a good reliable service is the sensible option.
Here is my selection of good longstanding reliable web hosts who I believe meet these strict criteria and I can personally recommend them...
