Traffic means that the webmaster is doing something right, and it also means that there more visitors seeing ads on the website and who may click on them thus generating income. Apart from creating good content and optimizing a website for search engines, a webmaster has a number of other options including that of creating a blog. A blog in this case would be a regularly updated journal of interesting (usually) short posts related to the subject of the website.
